Pelasgia tollbooth…

Stylida Mayor Apostolos Gletsos gives the victory salute to supporters outside a court in Lamia, central Greece, yesterday. The court ruled that he will be tried on April 6 for driving a bulldozer through barriers at the side of the Athens-Thessaloniki national road so motorists could bypass the Pelasgia tollbooth. The actor-turned-politician says he did so because people living in Stylida cannot go about their daily business without paying tolls due to the lack of country roads. Hundreds of residents from the central Greek town traveled in coaches to Lamia to support their mayor. Gletsos said residents of Stylida would remain at the point where he wrecked the barriers to ensure that it remains open to drivers.
