MONDAY Car ban in central Athens from 6.30- 9 a.m. – Foreign Minister George Papandreou to meet with US Secretary of State Colin Powell in New York. Greece’s relations with Turkey and the Cyprus issue will be on the agenda. – Defense Minister Yiannos Papantoniou is in Turkey for a meeting with his Bulgarian, Romanian and Turkish counterparts, within the framework of a four-day meeting to discuss regional issues. – Culture Minister Evangelos Venizelos is in Istanbul to attend the third round-table discussion on «Intangible Cultural Heritage? A Mirror of Cultural Diversity.» The conference is organized by UNESCO members’ culture ministers. – Deputy Foreign Minister Andreas Loverdos will make the opening remarks at the second annual lecture organized by the Greek Center for European Studies in memory of the late Alternate Foreign Minister Yiannos Kranidiotis. THURSDAY Athens Mayor Dimitris Avramopoulos presides over an international meeting of mayors. – The Greek Navy, in cooperation with the National Foundation for Research and Study «Eleftherios K. Venizelos,» will start a conference on the battleship Averoff on «Ninety Years Since the Beginning of the Balkan Wars.» Defense Minister Yiannos Papantoniou will make the opening address. – Thessaloniki Labor Center to hold a demonstration at the Eleftherios Venizelos.
