Gov?t losing its footing

The image that the government has been projecting over the past few months, and more so in recent days, inspires very little trust and confidence in the people of this country.

Constant bickering and disagreements between members of the Prime Minister George Papandreou?s Cabinet, along with the obvious absence of a clear nerve center of government where policy is drawn up and coordinated, are causing confusion and magnifying the uncertainty that has led to a freeze on almost all economic activity.

So far, Greeks have taken a mature stance toward the difficult changes that they have had to experience and shown patience with the government regardless of the negative effects that cost-cutting measures and changes to the social security system have had on their lives.

Now, though, they are beginning to question whether the government has a plan to get the country out of this crisis, whether it is working as a team that has the same goal and whether it is really running the show or not.
