Humanity in the face of the crisis
In times of crisis, the Greeks often display some of their finest characteristics, responding to the difficulties that arise out of such situations with charity and humanity.
Among the many examples we have seen of people, organizations and groups rising to the occasion is the recent initiative organized by the Church of Greece and the City of Athens to provide special meals over the holiday period for thousands of citizens who are being sorely tried in these current tough times.
This, however, is not the only example that shows Greeks have vast reserves of solidarity and social sensitivity, which keep the country on its feet despite the blows. In every city there are examples of initiatives or actions that show people?s humanity.
It is the duty of each and every one of us to contribute, when and how we can, in the major push that will be required so that the most vulnerable and sensitive groups of our society are not pushed to the wayside or crushed by the crisis.
