Winning the battle of Athens

The battle for the salvation of Athens is one battle which has to be won.

It is hard to believe that the European continent?s foremost historic city has been reduced to a breeding ground of lawlessness, a festering wound.

There is little doubt that the local authorities? cumulative inaction paved the way for criminal elements, illegal immigrants and various groups adhering to blind violence to take over the city.

However, all this has to come to an end.

Let?s hope that the country?s political powers will come together and join in the efforts currently under way to halt lawlessness and restore some sense of normality in the Greek capital.

At the same time, we have to accept that without large-scale policing, resolving illegal immigration issues and restricting riots in the city center, Athens is being driven to degradation and developing into a definitive ghetto.

This is something that the responsible citizens of this country will not accept.
