GEORGES BIDAULT: French Foreign Minister Georges Bidault, accompanied by his wife and senior ministry officials, arrived in Athens on an official visit yesterday at 6 p.m. (…) He was met at Athens airport by Foreign Minister Stefanos Stefanopoulos (…). Mr and Mrs Bidault are staying at the Maximos Mansion in Herodes Atticus Street (…). The Athens correspondent of the French daily Le Monde said that Mr Bidault’s talks in Greece, coming after the recent visit by a French navy squadron on Greek Independence Day (March 25), is an indication of France’s interest in what is traditionally a friendly nation. ALFRED KRUPP: The German industrialist Mr Alfred Krupp arrived in Athens a few days ago. PAVLOS PETRIDIS: Mainz, Germany, 15 – The recent performance of Pavlos Petridis’s oratorio «Aghios Pavlos,» which was staged at the Opera of Mainz, was a resounding success. The orchestra of 120 and two choirs, with five distinguished soloists under the brilliant direction of the opera’s general director, won general acclaim for what was characterized as a masterpiece. The audience gave the performance a standing ovation. GREECE-TURKEY: Paris, 9 – According to a report from Ankara, the Turkish Federation of Unions has informed its Greek counterpart (the General Confederation of Greek Labor) that it will cut off all links if the latter keeps participating in demonstrations in favor of uniting Cyprus with Greece.
