GREECE-TURKEY: Hania, 25 – On Sunday, a joint Greek-Turkish naval squadron, consisting of 16 warships, will be leaving for the Sudan. GREECE-TURKEY II: Mytilene, 25 – The Turkish authorities have seized a Greek fishing boat by the name of Stratis. PROVINCIAL PRESS: Many publishers and editors of provincial newspapers decided at a recent meeting to set up a «Union of Publishers and Editors of Provincial Daily Newspapers.» They elected a temporary administrative committee made up of E. Baklatzis, M. Hadellis, C. Rizopoulos and N. Yiannakopoulos. GYMNASTICS DEMONSTRATION: The schools’ annual exhibition of gymnastics and track races will take place on Sunday afternoon (May 31) at the Panatheniac Stadium in the presence of Education Minister K. Kollias. FLOODS: According to reports received yesterday by the police department in Athens, during the heavy downpour that occurred last Saturday (May 23), about 25 basements and ground floors were flooded in the districts of Plaka, Neos Cosmos, Hymettus, Vyronas, Tzitzifies, Nea Smyrni, Ambelokipi, Kypseli, Nea Sfageia and Zografou. The flood waters were pumped out by the fire department. FALLEN IN ACTION IN KOREA: London, 23 – The funeral service for four Greek airmen recently killed in action in Korea was held yesterday at a cemetery near the town of Pusan.
