Hoping for disaster
It is not a pretty picture when we see certain politicians rubbing their hands together in glee at the prospect that Greece may not receive the bailout money anytime soon or not in full. It is nothing short of shockingly immature and irresponsible behavior.
If the loan tranche is not disbursed on time and if the hardliners of the European Union are to prevail in their calls for more control over Greece, everyone in the cash-strapped country is set to lose, and those who will be hit the hardest will be those who are weakest and most vulnerable.
Wishing that the whole hard-earned deal with our creditors in Europe and the International Monetary Fund goes pear-shaped is shortsighted and extremely dangerous. It also proves that there are people in this country who care only about themselves, their political party and their position, and are indifferent to the conditions that prevail in the country as a whole.
This kind of narcissistic disaster-mongering has got to stop so that we can all come together to fight the battle for the country?s survival.
