Exhausted taxpayers

The tolerance of taxpayers who consistently meet their commitments has been completely exhausted as they see their last reserves dwindling away.

For three years now the political system has promised to clamp down on tax evasion, but on a daily basis citizens are faced with doctors who don’t issue receipts and shops that offer one price with VAT and another without. How much more inadequate can the political system get when for three years it has shied away from getting rid of offenders and laggards from the civil service, while slashing away at the salaries of state doctors, policemen, military officers etc?

Sure, the prime minister and a few in his cabinet are making efforts to bring about changes that should have been made years ago. But the government, and our foreign lenders, need to understand that if more taxes are imposed, the quiet, law-abiding citizens of this country will react with unprecedented rage.
