A costly obsession

Taxpaying Greek citizens have already paid a hefty price as a result of certain politicians’ refusal to move on with the abolition of useless public enterprises and the dismissal of employees with absolutely no job description.

Right from the very beginning of the memorandum’s implementation, the old-guard portion of socialist PASOK has put up a fierce struggle to prevent reforms from taking place.

As a result, taxpayers are still paying exorbitant taxes, while hardworking, efficient public servants are watching their salaries being slashed.

Unfortunately, this obsession is proving persistent and is now posing a threat to all the major sacrifices made by the Greek people in the last few years.

Whether that part of PASOK or members of the populist-leaning, right-wing sector of the political spectrum, the champions of this kind of sick and outdated status quo in the public sector are leading the country to disaster, to the sole benefit of their clientele.
