Put a lid on it
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has ordered the officials in his coalition government to limit the number of public statements they make as well as their interviews with the media.
Top-tier officials who have proved their worth by supporting the crisis-hit country through some of its most difficult times have stressed the danger of overexposure. They have warned of the irreparable damage that can be done when certain ministers continue to make irresponsible statements, including publicly contradicting official policy.
Despite these warnings, there are still officials within the government who continue to do just that, when the current circumstances require caution in negotiations and hard work with tangible results, not big words.
