VERGOTIS DONATIONS: Apart from the money they have donated to general collections, the Vergotis family has given the following amounts for the relief and rehabilitation of their fellow Cephalonians after the recent earthquakes: a) For temporary shelter for the villagers of Kourkoumelata: $6,000 from Georgios C. Vergotis and $2,000 from Rokos and Panayis G. Vergotis; b) for immediate financial support for the villages of Kourkoumelata, Metaxata and Kalligata: $4,500 from Andreas C. Vergotis and $2,000 from Rokos and Panayis Vergotis; c) for the reconstruction of the village of Kourkoumelata, 10,000 pounds sterling from Panayis Vergotis, an equal amount each from Giorgios Vergotis and Andreas Vergotis, and 5,000 pounds sterling each from Rokos Vergotis and Panayis Vergotis. IONIAN ISLANDS: Patras, 19 – The deputy minister for the rehabilitation of the Ionian islands earthquake victims, Mr Evangelatos, who is based in Argostoli, has announced that as of today, people may freely travel between the islands (Cephalonia, Zakynthos and Ithaca) and mainland Greece. HORSE SHOW: Pyrgos, 19 – Yesterday morning in Andravida, in the western Peloponnese, the 19th horse show ended with the prize-giving ceremony for the best in the various categories of horses.
