Behaving responsibly
The Greek economy can no longer bear the prevailing climate of uncertainty.
Striking a deal with the country’s partners and creditors is absolutely necessary if Greece is to return to some kind of growth.
Those throwing their support behind a rift between the government and the country’s lenders are clearly in favor of Greece exiting the eurozone. They are also underestimating the catastrophic consequences that such a development would have.
If Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras eventually opts for a solution in the form of a compromise he will have to explain his choice to public opinion – why he’s choosing this path and abandoning his opposition rhetoric.
This is the only acceptable behavior for any responsible leader and the only way to avoid seeing the country’s electoral body move in an extremist direction, something that we have seen happen in this country time and time again.
