Crisis avoidance

The threat of Turkey’s problems on the local level eventually spilling over into the Aegean region is very real right now, and that is why the current situation demands nothing less than highly responsible handling by the leadership of Greece.

Greece’s eastern neighbor finds itself in a particularly difficult position as a result of erroneous calculations as far as geopolitical evaluations go, but also with regard to a certain number of political upheavals which are currently taking place in that country.

In any case, Turkey’s political targets remain long-term while the country’s demands are multiplying.

It would be utterly foolish for anything to happen right now between Greece and Turkey that would spark a serious crisis of the kind that would result in both countries having to pay a hefty price.

There can be no political games, not in Ankara and not in Athens, when it comes to the Aegean, and leaders in both countries need to keep their heads where this is concerned.
