Wrong target

Work stoppages by transport staff reacting to the leftist-led government’s privatization program have been causing repeated disruptions to commuter services, making life very difficult for thousands of passengers who rely on them on a daily basis.

It’s high time transport sector employees and their unionists paused for a rethink. After all, it is mostly people belonging to the lower- and middle-income strata who rely on public transport for their daily commute.

The ongoing strikes will win them no support among the public. Their actions hurt people who are not in any way responsible for their woes.
