GEORGE PAPANDREOU: George Papandreou yesterday chaired a meeting of the Liberal Party’s political council that focused on the unification of the national opposition and the organization of the party congress on June 20. After a brief discussion, the council arrived at two decisions. Firstly, it admitted that the unification of the national opposition was possible and feasible only if all parties, groups and cadres of the Center joined the Liberal Party (…). GREECE-USA 8-1: According to a telegram from Brussels, the Greek armed forces team defeated that of the US 8-1 (5-0) in the soccer championship of the inter-allied military forces. As can be seen from the final result, the game was a walkover for the Greek team, which in the first half was ahead by 5-0, and restricted itself to repeating technical feats. The Greek team’s goals were scored by Ioannou in the fourth, 23rd and 32nd minutes, Panakis in the 14th, Nebidis in the 64th and Bebis in the 75th minute. The American goal was scored by Zerhazen in the 81st minute.
