OLYMPIC STADIUM: A protest rally was held in Maroussi on Sunday against plans to build an Olympic stadium in Kalogreza. After the speeches a resolution was passed unanimously, rejecting the foundation of an Olympic stadium in the area and suggesting instead the Syngrou Estate and the neighboring Mitsotakis-Karellas estates, which are for sale. The resolution emphasizes that if the Papagos government agrees to the Olympic committee’s proposal, it will result in catastrophe for about 500 farming families and the destruction of important farming and forested land and much livestock and poultry enterprises which have made a steady contribution to the national economy. GEORGIOS IOANNOU: (From a review by C. Paraschos): «Heliotrope,» poems by Georgios Ioannou, Thessaloniki, 1954. «This little book of just a few pages in length emanates a fine lyricism. It is, I believe, the author’s first work and is delicate but remarkable. (…) The poet has listened with pleasure to a few foreign works and although he may not realize it himself, these have emerged in his voice.» NAPOLI-OLYMPIAKOS: According to telegrams from Naples, the Olympiakos Piraeus team was beaten by Napoli 5-1.
