NAKED DANCER: A tragicomic incident took place in the early hours of yesterday morning at a nightclub on Syngrou Avenue when a young woman of loose morals, accompanied by two young men, went onto the dance floor and began to dance to the band. Clearly under the influence of alcohol, she then took off all her clothes except for her underwear. BRING BACK CANING: (From a commentary in Kathimerini): Irrespective of the amusing side of this case of the naked dancer, who repeated her provocative show yesterday in front of the customers of an Athens nightclub, we believe that the vice squad should not be lenient in such cases. We would also suggest that the practice of caning should be revived as a punishment for such public displays of indecency. A sharp flick of the cane at the first sign of naked revelry would soon put a stop to this unseemly practice. Otherwise, the way things are going, and given the lack of accountability on the part of various nightclubs, public morals will soon degenerate into nothing more than a mantle that can be thrown off at the slightest whim.
