ECONOMIC MEASURES: The coordination minister, Mr Panayis Papaligouras, yesterday announced measures that are to go into effect today. These are of an economic nature, dealing with the banking and administrative sectors. Banks will no longer be able to supply credit for imports, apart from very few cases and then for only 45 days. Deadlines are being shortened for the Bank of Greece to give preliminary approval for imports and for the delivery of imported goods from customs houses. (…) The purpose of these measures, according to Papaligouras, is to provide for a more rational distribution of credits in order to provide the necessary margins for funding production and the investments program. DOG DESTROYED: A rabid dog has been killed in the district of Anakassa, Aghioi Anargyroi. The medium-sized, black dog may have bitten people in other districts. PANATHINAIKOS: The Panathinaikos soccer team has won the Athens championship for 1954-55, by defeating Apollo 1-0 in yesterday’s match. The single goal was scored by Sofianos in a tight shot after a pass from Panakis.
