CHURCH AND KAZANTZAKIS: The Holy Synod has sent its ruling on the writer Mr Nikos Kazantzakis’s works «Christ Recrucified» and «The Last Temptation of Christ» to the Ecumenical Patriarchate to await its decision, since the author, as a native of the island of Crete, comes under the Patriarchate’s jurisdiction. DIMARAS: (From a letter by Timos Malanos titled «Corrections and Omissions»): I was very curious to see the second edition of «The History of Modern Greek Literature» by Mr K. Dimaras. I had aggrieved him (…) particularly since he had ignored the existence of the author of «Skeleton.» So it was with great satisfaction that I saw how, in the second edition, Mr Dimaras has redressed this omission, even if half-heartedly. DEAD OUTSIDE THE IRON CURTAIN: Volos, 18 – Fishermen yesterday found the wreck of an aircraft in shallow water off the coast of Halkidiki, northern Greece, that contain the remains of an airman, Georgios Kotzatzidis of Volos. The plane disappeared a year ago during NATO exercises, and because no trace of it was found, suspicions were raised that the missing airman may have taken refuge behind the Iron Curtain.
