SPLITTING OF THE CENTER: Eight Liberal deputies, three from the EPEK party and one aligned with the Liberals, this afternoon submitted a statement to the parliamentary speaker that they are resigning from their political parties and declaring themselves independent. This is a trend that began some three months ago following the failure of Mr Sophocles Venizelos to implement a plan to unify the opposition under his leadership. (…) The leader of the Liberals, Mr George Papandreou, has expressed his satisfaction that the Liberal Party «will remain undivided from attempts to undermine it from within.» The resignations were signed by the following Liberal deputies: E. Kothris, N. Kradasakis, C. Maris, I. Mavridoglou, A. Pasadis, C. Mitsotakis, M. Skoulas and G. Tzantiris, the deputies of the EPEK party A. Voulodimos, G. Tzatzanis and I. Zervanos, and the independent aligned to the Liberals, Mr E. Zannis. RADIO: The Athens Radio Station will begin broadcasts today at 10.45 p.m. of its second program of the reading of Pantelis Prevelakis’s novel «The Chronicle of a City.» It will be narrated by Alexis Minotis with a musical introduction by Manos Hadjidakis.
