MILK WITH COUPONS: The new year’s milk coupons will be distributed from February 1 to 10 by the regional coupon bureaus. Those entitled should apply as soon as possible. GREEK RAILWAY: the first train carriages, constructed by Mr Michalis Tzonis for the French-Greek company of Alexandroupolis, were handed over in a ceremony at Lefka, in Piraeus, yesterday (January 19). The train will be towed to Alexandroupolis, where the engine will be attached (…). Mr Emmanouil Vayias, who supervised the project, emphasized its importance as a technical achievement. The train is 23 meters long and three meters wide and has 74 seats, a luggage compartment, restaurant, mail carriage and two engines. LACK OF FOOD: Last week, food markets in Athens, Piraeus and the suburbs suffered shortages of basic foodstuffs (…), particularly frozen meat, fresh fish and potatoes. CYPRUS ISSUE: Cyprus’s students rallied enthusiastically yesterday for the second anniversary of the Cypriot referendum and at the same time strongly protested against Britain’s oppressive measures against Greek Cypriots.
