TERRORISM IN CYPRUS: According to telegrams from Nicosia, the police in Cyprus today carried out intensive searches for weapons and made a number of arrests. At Nicosia airport, customs staff examined all luggage to ensure that no explosives were being taken aboard planes. In Famagusta, the police searched everyone who entered or left the port. Last night there was another explosion in the port of Larnaca. According to initial reports, the explosion occurred at the home of a Briton where a bomb had been planted. There were no casualties. Throughout all provinces police are searching for explosives. BRITISH DEMARCHE: Foreign Minister Stephanos Stephanopoulos yesterday received a visit yesterday and the day before by British Ambassador in Athens Sir Charles Peake, who made statements on Athens radio. CHURCHILL DEPARTS: London, 5 – In a brief statement yesterday, Buckingham Palace announced that Sir Winston Churchill was resigning, bringing his long political career to an end. MYRIVILIS: Athens radio is launching a new weekly program titled «Ten Minutes with Stratis Myrivilis.»
