ESIEA AND CYPRUS: The general assembly of the members of the Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily Newspapers (ESIEA) has approved a resolution offering its solidarity with the Cypriot people, after the unprecedented reign of terror being employed by the colonial authorities to quash the Cypriots’ nationalist sentiments. CONSUMERS’ UNION: The Union of Electric Power Consumers has issued a statement announcing «(…) amendments to (the union’s) charter for protecting the interests of consumers around the country in electricity, water, telecommunications, gas and public transport, and aimed at obtaining lower prices.» GREECE-BRITAIN: Paris, 18 – An anti-Greek broadcast by London radio regarding Greece’s claim to Northern Epirus is being seen in allied circles as an unfortunate move in British policy against the Cyprus problem. The sources observe that Britain was the only one of the major powers that had supported Greece’s view on the Northern Epirus issue at the peace conference in 1946. Britain’s reneging on its former position is unworthy of a great power that claims to be fighting for the principle of democracy around the world.
