BALKANS: The leader of the Liberal Democratic Association, Mr Sophocles Venizelos, yesterday announced his party’s agenda, to be submitted for approval at a conference on the 19th of this month. It [the agenda] pledges general amnesty, the settling of political exiles and legalization of the Greek Communist Party (KKE). Moreover, it proposes a social welfare program and attacks the policies of Synagermos. GEORGIOS PAPANDREOU: Insiders in the Liberal Party (led by Georgios Papandreou), referring to yesterday’s announcement delivered by the liberal societies of Athens which attacks Papandreou, describe it as typical of the stagnancy of the Liberal Democratic Association (led by Sophocles Venizelos) because, for the umpteenth time, it celebrates the «great event,» or accession of societies. (…) Papandreou, however, will not respond to the slanderers as the Greek people know very well who the polarizers of the opposition and Liberal Party really are.
