MINOTIS: Mr Alexandros Minotis, film director and star of the tragedy «Oedipus Rex,» sets out here the general principles on which he based his direction and interpretation. The following text is an excerpt from a study by Minotis: «If an open-air performance of ancient tragedy manages today to move its audience, not only in human terms as a myth, but artistically, with authentic elements taken from the roots of our nation’s life, then the effort is not wasted. There can be no faithfulness to the ancient manner of interpretation or appearance. There can, however, be an attempt to link past with present with the psychological and aesthetic means available and make it accessible to both the artist and the spectator (…)» ENRICHED URANIUM: Washington, 23 – Greece and the United States have initialed a cooperation agreement for the exploration of peaceful uses of atomic energy. Greece will be provided, in the form of a loan, with 6 kilograms of enriched uranium for research purposes.
