GREECE-TURKEY: Greece has decided not to participate in the Izmir International Trade Fair because Turkey has not paid its trade debts, according to an announcement by the government. AMERICAN PRESSURE: Paris, 15 (From our correspondent Spyros Theodorou) – The US secretary of state, Mr John Foster Dulles, is to meet here tomorrow morning with Greece’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr Stephanos Stephanopoulos in advance of the NATO ministers’ summit. According to a US source, Secretary of State Dulles wanted the meeting in order to put pressure on the official responsible for Greek foreign policy to agree to his country’s attendance at the Tripartite Conference (between Greece, Britain, Turkey) on the Cyprus issue, scheduled to be held in London, with a sincere desire to find a compromise solution to the dispute between Britain and Greece on the issue. It is felt that this would be in the best interests of NATO’s overall policy which should be aimed at maintaining absolute unity in the face of the latest moves by Moscow.
