CYPRIOT STRUGGLE: Nicosia, 22 – The Cypriot volcano has already exploded and the mercenary troops of Field Marshal Harding are no longer able to react. That is the only conclusion one can draw from the repetition today of fierce clashes between Cypriot demonstrators and British security forces. ARMED ATTACK: Nicosia, 22 – At midnight last night a group of men entered the Amianto mining area and approached the dynamite store which is used for the needs of the mine. The armed men, during their first attack, threw three hand grenades at the 12 British soldiers guarding the storeroom and then opened fire with rifles and submachine guns… The conflict lasted about 15 minutes. The attackers fled afterward… At dawn today a military ambulance arrived at Amianto, therefore it may be assumed that there were casualties among the soldiers. THEODOROS VAVAYIANNIS: Today at 8.30 p.m., Swiss time, the head musician of the Athens State Orchestra, Theodoros Vavayiannis, will conduct the Swiss Romansh Symphony Orchestra in a performance to be broadcast by all Swiss radio stations.
