CHANGE IN BANK LEADERSHIP: The goverment of Constantine Karamanlis, via the finance minister, Mr A. Apostolidis, yesterday announced a series of drastic measures in the country’s banking system. These measures comprise the replacement of the chief of the National Bank of Greece and Athens, Mr K. Iliaskos, and the appointment of government commissioners at the other two major trading banks, namely Mr G. Marangopoulos at the Emporiki (or Commercial) Bank and the Finance Ministry’s former general director Mr T. Mertikopoulos at the Ionian and Popular Bank. CYPRUS: Nicosia, November 24 – Another two British soldiers paid with their lives today for their government’s refusal to accept the demand of the Cypriot people for self-determination. Since last month a total of five British soldiers have been killed, four of them in the past week.
