USA AND CYPRUS: Washington, 24 – There are many indications as well as specific information from indirect but reliable sources that the United States is about to mediate in bringing about a speedy solution to the Cyprus issue. American interest has been displayed in two directions: a) in an official demarche to the British government recommending that it not «burn its bridges» or cut off all talks with the Cypriots, and b) warm support for acceptance of the Cypriots’ demand that were heard in the US House of Representatives. KAMBANELLIS AT THE NATIONAL THEATER: Last Monday was the premiere at the National Theater of a play by a young Greek writer Iakovos Kambanellis called «The Seventh Day of Creation.» The play was warmly applauded. It starred Georgios Glynos, Thanos Kotsopoulos, Vyron Pallas and Jenny Karezi. Whereas, as you know, people are usually standing up. When they are horizontal, we are not permitted to film their actions!»
