CYPRIOT STRUGGLE: Nicosia, 21 – By order of the British governor of Cyprus, Field Marshal Sir John Harding, citing emergency measures, as of today it is forbidden for any boat to enter the territorial waters of Cyprus on the northern side of the island between the villages of Hartzia, which is 17 miles east of Kyreneia and Akanthos, about 29 miles east of Kyreneia. (…) According to Reuters, apparently the northern headquarters of the national Organization for the Cypriot Struggle (EOKA) has been established in the hills overlooking these two villages which are known as the Black Mountain range. At the same time naval vessels have begun scouring the coastline in this area, which are being backed up by helicopters and large land forces, in order to root out EOKA patriots or their arsenals. GEORGES GUETARY: The film version of Johann Strauss’s operetta «Barone Tzigane,» featuring the French-Greek singing star Georges Guetary in the role of Barinkay, will be screened this Monday at the Pallas Theater. Guetary’s co-star is Marguerite Saad.
