GREECE-USSR: Paris, 13 – The sudden initiative by Soviet Foreign Minister Dimitris Sepilov to visit Athens has caused a stir among NATO circles here. Undoubtedly, they say, Russian diplomacy is aimed at extending the general peace offensive to the most sensitive area of the Atlantic alliance, that is, Greece. It is clear that Moscow’s latest initiative will attempt to broaden the existing divide between London and Athens, exploiting to the full Greece’s intense dissatisfaction and bitterness at the failure of its NATO allies to recognize Cypriots’ right to self-determination. JUAN JOSE VALLE: Buenos Aires, 12 – It was announced today that the military council has decided that as of today all executions will be postponed. That appears to have affected one particular case. While it was expected that the death sentence passed on the arrested General Juan Jose Valle, leader of the Peronist movement, was to be commuted to a life sentence, a well-informed source said that the general was executed by firing squad this afternoon.
