EDA REPRESENTATIONS: The special committee for the administration of exiles and the living conditions of political exiles of the United Democratic Left (EDA) has visited the former prime minister, Mr Constantine Tsaldaris, the leader of the Progressives Party, Mr Spyros Markezinis, Athens Mayor Pavsanias Katsotaw, the mayor of Piraeus, Mr Sapounakis and the head of the Chamber of Industry, Mr Varvayiannis, to ask for their help and support. According to the committee’s announcement, Mr Tsaldaris emphasized that the need to forgive the events of the past and to bring the country into a more peaceful period had been agreed upon before the elections. As for the exiles’ living conditions, he said he would do what he could to improve them. LEOPOLD FIGL: Vienna, 18 – A Cypriot envoy, Mr Loizidis, was received by Austrian Foreign Minister Leopold Figl, who assured him that Austria would respect the principles of the UN Charter during the UN debate on the Cyprus issue. Mr Figl added that regarding the liberty of nations, «it is not enough to talk about it but we also must apply it.»
