UNIVERSITY PROTEST: Athens University issued the following resolution yesterday: «The National University of Athens… feels it is its sacred duty to protest strongly before honest people everywhere in the world over the two terrible world wars and the terrible strangulation of the rights of peoples and nations in Hungary and Egypt in a way that indicates a complete breakdown of European civilization.» EVANGELOS AVEROF: New York, 8 – The Greek foreign minister, Mr Evangelos Averof, said today after his arrival here that the Greek delegation to the United Nations General Assembly would do everything possible to secure the right of self-determination for Cypriots. UN AND HUNGARY: New York, 9 – Following the UN General Assembly debate on the situation in Hungary, a vote was taken on the Italian proposal, which was approved with an overwhelming majority. The proposal in question involves the withdrawal of Russian troops from Hungary, free elections under the aegis of the UN and a detailed investigation into the situation in Hungary.
