Closing the inn after cashing in

No one in this country appears to want any competition, not even the businesspeople themselves. The hoteliers of Attica are a typical case in point. It wasn’t enough that they modernized their hotels with state subsidies. Now they are asking the government to stop the flow of funds because there is a «glut» of such accommodation in the sector. In other words, they don’t want any more hotels to be built so as to limit the competition. This is the typical reaction of every vested interest group, whether unionist or in the business sector. No sooner do they exploit the privileges offered by the state than they demand that these privileges not be extended to anyone else. The point is, however, that there is no such glut. On the contrary, there should always be competition, and on equal terms.
