Grave allegations

Architecture lecturer Nikos Belavilas has made some very grave allegations: Speaking on the panel of a leading private TV channel, Belavilas said that last week he saw hooded youths getting off a Greek police van. If his allegations hold true, then we are talking about an extremely serious event that confirms reports of the existence of a para-state mechanism. However, the academic should have first turned to the justice department before turning up on the television channel. For his part, the prosecutor should have reacted to Belavilas’s allegations by calling on him to testify about what he claims to have seen on that day (on top of the violence, now a trademark of virtually all public demonstrations on the streets of Athens). It is a grave allegation and is already being discussed across the country. Greece’s judiciary authorities must quickly shed light on this controversial case.
