GREECE-USA-USSR: New York, 1 (From our correspondent) – According to a reliable source, the attempt by the Soviet Union and its satellites to set conditions for their vote in favor of the Greek representation to the UN on the Cyprus issue has led to grave concern on the part of the US government. According to American officials, the Cyprus issue can only be solved by the West and not by the Eastern alliance, and therefore any concession by Greece to the Communists’ «conditions» would only worsen instead of improve the current situation regarding Cyprus. According to the same sources, American officials have already drawn the Greek delegation’s attention to the serious consequences for the outcome of the Cyprus issue if Greece were to agree to the various demands of the Soviets and their allies. KING PAVLOS AND KARAMANLIS: Yesterday afternoon Prime Minister Constantine Karamanlis went to the palace at Tatoi and… briefed the king on the situation at home and abroad, particularly developments in the Cyprus issue at the UN General Assembly.
