EDOUARD HERRIOT: Lyon, 26 – The former French prime minister Edouard Herriot died here today at the age of 84 after a long illness. For many years he was the leader of the Radical Party, an honorary president for life of the French National Assembly and also the longtime mayor of Lyon. After a brief improvement, Herriot’s health deteriorated yesterday. He is mourned not only by the French people but by the citizens of many states all over the world.
