RESHUFFLE: Yesterday afternoon, two new ministers were sworn into office: Spyros Theotokis as agriculture minister and Achilleas Gerokostopoulos as education minister will assume their portfolios tomorrow. These posts had been vacant for a year. NOVAS ON SOLOMOS: The Academy of Athens held an ad hoc meeting yesterday to mark the centenary of the death of Greece’s national poet Dionysios Solomo.s Georgios Athanassiadis-Novas gave a talk on Solomos, saying that the spirit of the poet – the value of his poetry and love of liberty – was still very much alive in Greece. GREEK CINEMA: According to statistics released by the Greek Cinema Press Agency, 30 new Greek films were screened over the past year, another eight are due for release and another 11 are in production. GYMNASTICS PERFORMANCES: The annual gymnastic displays by high school pupils are to take place this afternoon in the Panathenaic Stadium in the presence of Education Ministry officials. About 4,000 children are to take part in a program that includes races and folk dances. A choir of 400 pupils will sing.
