AMERICAN INVESTMENT: It was announced yesterday that the organization set up in Washington for the purpose of promoting international cooperation has included Greece among a number of countries for which it will guarantee investments of American private capital. In the initial phase, the organization has provided its guarantee to the major American firm Tresser and Dallas Texas. This firm will exploit deposits of barite (barium sulfate, a mineral used to make a lubricant used in oil drilling) located on the Aegean island of Myconos. For this purpose, a Greek firm has been set up under the name «Myconos Mining Company,» which will provide 50 percent of the operating capital. The other half of the capital for the undertaking will be provided by the American company. AUNT LENA: Nina (Stella Georgiadi) and Aunt Lena (Antigone Metaxa), famous for their children’s programs on Athens radio, both of whom are currently visiting New York, visited the RCA television studios and performed a sketch which was broadcast to great acclaim.
