MALAPARTE AND CHINA: Rome, 27 – The last will and testament of the writer Curzio Malaparte, who died recently in Italy after returning from a trip to China, states the following: «Prompted by feelings of gratitude toward the Chinese people and in order to boost cultural exchanges between the East and West, I hereby establish the Curzio Malaparte Foundation for the purpose of building in Italy an accommodation and study center for artists and writers from the People’s Republic of China. For that purpose, I bequeath to the abovementioned foundation my estate on the island of Capri along with all my personal belongings therein, including the gold and silver objects. I desire that the remainder of my family fortune be divided equally among my sisters Edda and Maria Suckert and my brother Ezio Suckert.» MARIA CALLAS: Athens Radio is to broadcast live tomorrow night’s concert at the Herod Atticus Theater in its entirety, with which Maria Callas is to open the Athens Festival. The famous Greek soprano will sing arias from Verdi’s operas.
