MENDERES IN GREECE: Yesterday morning at 10.30 a.m. Turkish Prime Minister Adnan Menderes, Foreign Minister Fouad Kioprulu and other visiting senior political and military figures laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (…). Lt. Gen. Kanatli made the following response to a question as to whether the entire Turkish nation was in favor of an alliance between the two countries: «We have watched the achievements of our men in Korea with the same emotion and admiration as we have watched the achievements of the Greek soldiers. Everyone is in absolute agreement as to the value and high morale of the Greek army.» WELFARE STATE: Yesterday evening the committee on the new drug against tuberculosis reached a decision for the State to import one million doses of this drug for the country’s TB patients. (…) The drug will be given free of charge to all those patients without means and for a small fee to those with means. SOCRATES KARANTINOS: According to reports from Paris, the premiere of Aristophanes’ «Clouds» being staged by the Comedie Francaise, directed by Socrates Karantinos with sets and costumes by Nikos Hadzikyriakou-Ghikas and music by G. Kazasoglou, will take place on May 14.
