Need to put our house in order

The high cost of fuel, food and money in this country and around the world means that both Greece and its citizens will be finding it increasingly difficult to balance their income and expenditure. On account of a half percentage point rise in bond interest rates alone, Greece will have to pay up to 350 million euros a year more. It goes without saying that every household in the country will be facing a similar problem, albeit on a smaller scale. The need for us to put our house in order is now becoming very urgent – on every level from the state itself down to the budget of every single household in Greece. It is clear that people will be left with no alternative but to change some of their daily habits in order to save money, which is becoming ever more precious. But can we trust our politicians to stop allowing money and resources to be wasted and to take the necessary measures that will make the state more functional and – finally – ensure that it is on the side of citizens rather than working against them?
