CONSTANTINOS RENDIS: Former government minister Constantinos Rendis was killed in a car accident yesterday afternoon near the village of Inoi, in Viotia. The vehicle in which he was a passenger collided with an oncoming bus, killing Rendis instantly and seriously injuring another passenger. Rendis was born in 1884 and studied law at Athens University. He entered the diplomatic service in 1910 and served in several government posts as well as representing Greece in Montenegro, Vienna and Rome. He joined Eleftherios Venizelos’s movement in 1916 and served with several governments before later representing Greece at the United Nations and at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. KAPNIKAREA: The Byzantine Church of Kapnikarea on Ermou Street is to be overshadowed by a 25-meter tall building being constructed next to it. Objections have been raised with the archaeological council regarding the height of the apartment buildings around the monument. A 15-meter limit has been proposed for any buildings to be constructed near it. PICTURE DISCS: Gramophone records of Greek songs have been released on the market with paper pictures of Athens landscapes embedded in them.
