PAPADIMITRIOU: The parliamentary deputy for Pella, in northern Greece, N. Papadimitriou, elected on the United Democratic Left (EDA) ticket, issued an announcement yesterday that he had collaborated with EDA because a number of the party’s basic platform proposals coincided with his own personal political beliefs. However, he said that EDA had shown that it did not believe in what it had proclaimed and was practicing politics in a way that obstructed the restoration of calm political conditions that would allow for social justice. BRECHT IN GREECE: The Art Theater is once again to stage Bertolt Brecht’s play «The Chalk Circle,» which was so successful last year. Translated into Greek by the poet Odysseas Elytis, the play’s songs are by Manos Hadjidakis. Meanwhile, at the Kyveli Theater tomorrow night, there is to be a reprise of the City of Athens’s presentation of Brecht’s work. HEROD ATTICUS: Work to restore the Herod Atticus Theater is to continue this year. The Education Ministry has announced that it has earmarked 600,000 drachmas for the purpose.
