MANOLIS KALOMIRIS: – Academy of Athens member Manolis Kalomiris is to address a meeting of the Parnassus Club on Monday on the subject of «[Kostis] Palamas and Music.» A performance of 10 songs whose lyrics were written by the poet will follow. AFTER THE CIVIL WAR: A memorial service is to be held next week at the Makriyianni military camp where in 1944 some of the most dramatic phases of the struggle against communism were waged. The service is to commemorate the lives of the officers and men of the security forces who fell there in the line of duty. The service will be attended by King Pavlos, Prime Minister Constantine Karamanlis, Cabinet members and representatives of the armed forces. ILIOU-KHRUSHCHEV: Parliament yesterday debated a statement made in Budapest by Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev justifying the December 1944 communist uprising in Athens… Foreign Minister Evangelos Averoff rebuffed an attempt by Ilias Iliou of the United Democratic Left (EDA) to downplay the importance of Khrushchev’s statement. Iliou criticized the government for hastening to make announcements before receiving the full text of Khrushchev’s statement.
