HAPPY NEW YEAR: Throughout Athens yesterday, the streets rang to the happy sounds of New Year carols sung by children going from door to door. AEOLOU STREET: There was not much originality in the toys and games being sold at the Aeolou Street market yesterday. Plastic has largely replaced tin and brass but there is a lack of imagination. ADENAUER: West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer has sent greetings to Prime Minister Constantine Karamanlis and his government, expressing hopes for complete trust and close cooperation between the two countries during the course of the coming year. KHRUSHCHEV: The prime minister also received a telegram from the premier of the Soviet Union, Nikita Khrushchev. EISENHOWER: US President Dwight D. Eisenhower has sent a telegram to the president of the Academy of Athens, Spyros Melas, thanking the Academy for the honor they have bestowed upon him in making him an honorary member. TWELFTH CURTAIN: The Twelfth Curtain theater company has released its schedule of performances for this year, which includes «The Hats» by Manthos Krispis, «Matchmaking for Antigone» and «The Unbeatables.»
