ARMAMENTS AND SPACE PROGRAM: London, 21 – The Russians have launched the first ballistic multistage rocket over the Pacific Ocean. According to an announcement from Moscow, the Soviet missile fell into the sea 12,500 kilometers from its launch site after reaching an altitude of 90 kilometers, 2 kilometers higher than the target point. Today the Americans launched a rocket from Wallops Island, Virginia, carrying a female rhesus monkey (Miss Sam). The rocket reached an altitude of 14,700 meters before falling into the Atlantic Ocean. The rocket has been recovered with the ape in good health. The Russian launch is recognized as an achievement, although of less importance than previous ones, such as Luna 2 mission on September 13, 1959, for example, which was the first man-made object to land on the moon. NATIONAL DEFENSE GENERAL STAFF: It has been announced that the National Defense General Staff is to be moved from the old palace to the Greek Pentagon Building in the district of Holargos. The financial services, the veterinary services and the entire fifth sector of the Army General Staff are to be moved from Holargos to the city center.
