Greeks under supervision

The mood in Greece is gloomy and dispirited. Uncertainty about the future and the series of embarrassing reports published in the foreign media have put the country in a very difficult position. All indications are that help from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund will be necessary for the country to borrow under reasonable conditions. Among most Greeks, the word «supervision» has very negative connotations. However, it’s time to look at the positive aspects and see economic supervision as a chance to correct the mistakes that have brought us to the verge of bankruptcy. If we ourselves do not have the courage, the willingness or the know-how to remedy past wrongs, then some sort of supervision of the national economy might be the only available solution. After all, it is not the foreigners who are responsible for the squandering of funds, the lack of organization and the corruption that plunged our nation into debt.
