Violence darkens our future

The political and social tolerance of illegal and often violent activity over the past 30 years has resulted in the tragic death of three innocent workers. The right to protest and take part in public rallies is a fundamental civic right. However, the use of firebombs can by no means be considered just a «recreational sport.» Violent acts cannot be considered any legitimate form of expression. Parties on the left seem keen to challenge the limits of the law with extremist behavior. These people must finally realize the perils of this habit, a habit that risks turning the country into a jungle undermining the nation’s future. When Greece’s leftist parties breach the laws and constitution they are effectively sending a dangerous message to violent thugs. Regardless of how the left will react, the state and government must take a stand on illegal behavior and violence or we may mourn more victims in the future.
